        About Us

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide Christian community founded in Paris in 1833. It remains an international Catholic voluntary organization of lay people. The vocation of the Society’s members, who are called Vincentians, is to follow Christ through service to those in need. Members show their commitment through person-to-person contact.

Vincentians serve in hope and are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of addressing poverty, providing humility, and sharing resources, all nourished by prayer and reflection and mutually supportive gatherings. All Vincentians are guided by the following:

The Society serves anyone in need regardless of creed,  religious affiliation, citizenship status, social background, health, gender, or political opinions.

        • The Society serves anyone in need regardless of creed,  religious affiliation, citizenship status, social background, health, gender, or political opinions.
        • No work of charity is foreign to the Society.
        • The Society provides any form of help that alleviates suffering or deprivation and promotes human dignity and personal integrity in all their dimensions.

        The Glen Cove Conference

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Glen Cove carries on in that tradition and provides aid and comfort to the poor, the afflicted and the lonely. Members of the Society make personal home visits, provide advocacy and support usually in the form of food vouchers, financial assistance, clothing and furniture. Donations go to helping our neighbors in need.

The Society strives to seek out and find those in need – regardless of creed, religious affiliation, or citizenship status. We also work with other conferences in the area to maximize our impact in the community.

If you need help, please fill out the form on the “Get Help” page and we will be in touch.

If you are interested in getting involved, please learn more on our “Get Involved” page.
